THE STORY

My name is Glafkos George, and I am a ceramic artist based in Athens, Greece. I founded Space X Pottery as both a personal sanctuary and a creative studio; a place where clay, fire, and curiosity meet. Every piece you'll find here is handcrafted either on the wheel or handbuilt. I am interested in creating objects that look like they naturally emerged from the depths of the universe; not something made or contrived.
I work primarily with high-fired stoneware clay and porcelain, layering my own glaze formulations, to create unique, expressive surfaces. These glazes are sprayed in multiple delicate layers, encouraging unexpected patterns to emerge during firing.

My forms are simple and organic, drawing inspiration from nature. I am informed by ceramic traditions and the beauty of imperfection. I aim to create pieces that feel like they've always existed, subtle, self-contained, and alive.
Whether decorative or functional, everything I make is part of an ongoing conversation with materials, history, and emotion. Through Space X Pottery I try to make the invisible visible, and offer a small invitation to pause, feel, and connect.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Each piece is a dialogue between shape, surface, and feeling.
Pottery is a quiet dialogue with the earth. It grounds us, invites presence, and reminds us of our place in the cycle of making and being.
Clay has memory and carries a trace of our hands, it connects us to ourselves, to others and to something greater.
