Vase No. 4 — Nagori

Vase No. 4 holds a full, rounded body that narrows, and across it, glaze runs freely: cobalt, violet, ochre, pale green, breaking into one another in vertical rivers that were never drawn, only allowed. Fragments of recycled porcelain are pressed into the shoulders and belly of the form, where they gather glaze into thick pale blooms. They read like coral, like lichen, like something the sea left behind. This piece belongs to ~Nagori, an ongoing study of surface — dry against wet, matte against gloss, smooth against encrusted. No. 4 is the glossy one: high-shine throughout, in a brighter, almost pop palette. Wheel-thrown, built up and glazed entirely by hand. One piece only.
